MTBUK meets YOKKAO!

It’s strange how something can develop so quickly if you put the time and effort into it. I feel MTBUK could have gone and still could go a lot further if I had the time. This isn’t a page announcing my ‘retirement’ from writing/blogging but to tell you that I have been lucky enough to he given then opportunity to write for one of the most well known and prestigious Muay Thai brands.

If you are a Muay Thai practitioner then you will have heard this name before. Even if you aren’t a Muay Thai practitioner but like to watch it or know someone that is involved in it then I’m sure that this brand will still ring true to you. It is very easily recognisable by their brilliant branding and fantastic shows!!

This is by far one of the most exciting things that has ever happened to me, second and third to me getting married and having my first born on the way. When I started MTBUK I never expected to get where it is today. Having a monthly visitor tally of around 1000 people from all over the world. It’s crazy!! That’s 12000 people per year that sees my writing. I have now over 400 followers on Twitter and 250 likes on Facebook.

It blows my mind to think that there are people out there who are interested in what I have to say but now I have an amazing opportunity to get my writing read by a whole new audience. Well, not necessarily new but a wider range because these guys will have the traffic and exposure that I could only wish to achieve with MTBUK.

If you haven’t already guessed it… The brands names is YOKKAO! It was by the off chance that I saw on Twitter that they were needing writers for their ‘news’ section of their website which is soon to be revamped. I wrote to them and asked if it would be possible for me to join their team and sent them an article from here which was ’10 reasons to get into Muay Thai’ but they wanted something that hadn’t already been posted.

Funnily enough I had just received two new YOKKAO t-shirts in the post that week so I wrote a brief review on one of them and surely enough I got a reply saying that they would be happy for me to join their team. Me. Join their writing team. Covering stuff like events, product reviews, training tips, nutrition tips and fun stuff like that. Who knows, this might be what yokkao-MTBUK needs, I will still write on here about my own experiences in Muay Thai and my own opinions on things that are happening.

I just wanted to tell you all because it is something that I am mega excited to be doing. Something that I hope we can all benefit from because if I can get more writing out there and more practice too, then I might get a bit better and it and eventually get to make it my full time job. I dream of the day that my job will be in Muay Thai. Covering events, interviewing fighters, creating rankings, training twice a day, writing and just enjoying life in the Muay Thai world.

Since getting this position I feel now that it is somewhat accomplishable. I run the risk of sounding corny and a bit cheesy here but if you want something you have to go out and get it. There are people who live their lives wondering ‘what if?’ I have always been one that would be cheeky and just ask or get up and talk. People I know, know about me that I like the sound of my own voice and like to talk, a lot but what’s the harm in that? If I can spread to the love for Muay Thai with my enthusiasm then so be it.

Everything that I write for YOKKAO will now be posted on here under a heading I am yet to create. I might make a YOKKAO section of the website, I am yet to decide. Watch this space. This isn’t one of them things that I tell you I am doing something and it gets forgotten about… This is actually happening.

Thanks for the continued support. I will keep you posted on the progress of me and YOKKAO and will be posting the articles I write here so you can keep up to date with them too.

Until then, stay true to who you are. Don’t let anyone say you’re not capable of something and follow your dreams!!

Also, go to my Facebook and Twitter and give us a follow/like and I will be forever grateful. Finally, say hello! Introduce yourself. If you would like to be featured on here, if you’re a fighter and would like to do an interview let me know, if you are a gym owner and you would like to spread the word about your gym, let me know. For if I can be of help, I would love to be!!
