“Muay Thai – the martial art we all know and love”

So I posted my first ‘blog’ style post on the YOKKAO site. It is a good one. I quite enjoyed writing it. I have a couple of good ideas that are slowly beginning to creep into my mind so I am working on just getting my workload done for now.

I don’t want to set my workload too high and then not be able to deal with it. So i am doing the task in hand and will begin to play my hand when the time is right but for now, I am enjoying doing what I am doing. Doing what I enjoy, writing.

Is the post on YOKKAO, I am trying to get people to comment on the posts, so if you are reading this then maybe you wouldn’t mind commenting on the bottom of the post, saying what you like about the post, or how/why you fell in love with it! That would be awesome!

Until then, is there anything in particular that you might like to see on the YOKKAO site? Any training tips you might like or a particular product reviewed.

Good session yesterday and interclub this weekend.

Had a good old session in the gym yesterday. It’s strange now, with me having a wee man to think about and taking all my time I am struggling to get down to the gym now but he is totally worth it! Here is a shot of him having his guard up!

Maximus holding his guard up! Future world champ!

It was good to be back in there, I got chance to go down a couple of weeks ago for an advanced session and I felt I was back to square one. This session was good though, we were working on scooping the body kick and defending against it.

Scooping is something that you see really often in professional fighting. It is the easiest to do and possibly most effective as you can get a good score if your opponents back has become exposed to you. Less effort and high score it is a win win for the counter attacker!

We also got a bit of sparring in which was a bit of an eye opener. My fitness is shot at the minute. It wasn’t the best anyway but if it was just okay then, it is shit now!! It was a good mental preparation for the interclub at the weekend.

It is NK’s second birthday this weekend and what better way to celebrate it with an interclub and hog roast?!? Looking forward to having a spar with someone of a similar weight and ability. I like having to push myself further than i think I can so this will be another challenge overcome!

An update on what is happening

Okay, so my spot with the YOKKAO team has been confirmed! How frickin’ awesome is that!?! I am going to be writing for one of the worlds most prestigious Muay Thai brands out there at the moment. I feel totally blessed to be able to have the opportunity to do this, so I am going to put my heart and soul into it!
I am currently in the process of writing a number of articles for them, training tips, fighter profiles, any news from the Muay Thai scene in the UK. I will be publishing them as often as I can and then will be posting them here and giving you a brief overview as to what it is about from my perspective rather than that of YOKKAO.
If you haven’t already heard (which you bloody well should have done if you are a Muay Thai fan), then there is going to be some history made on October 10th in Bolton at the Macron stadium. YOKKAO is going to deliver one of the most exciting shows it has done to date. I mean, the past couple of shows have been amazing, totally incredible, bringing some of the best fighters in the world to our shores. I personally thought that it couldn’t be topped.
Oh how wrong I was! They have topped and surpassed every expectation that I had in my mind. Straight away from the get go, when Saenchai got announced as the main event that was enough to get the venue sold out. Now there is, Liam Harrison, Jordan Watson, Singdam Kiatmoo9 and now… Reece McAllister is going to fight Josh Turbill. Awesome!! There is going to be loads of other fights that happen, that are yet to be announced that will all blow your mind! This show is set to be amazing!!
I was talking to my mum the other night and explained who YOKKAO were and what they do. The analogy used was like, they are like the premiership league of football, only better because it is Muay Thai. Damn straight!
I will be keeping you posted on the progress of YOKKAO, my personal training journey has somewhat come to a standstill at the moment because I recently was blessed enough to become a parent! My son is now nearly three weeks old and is going to be a little bruiser! Most of my time will be spent either at work or writing for YOKKAO now, so I guess MTBUK will be tailored to what is going on in my life too.
If you want to follow along with my section of the Newly refurbished YOKKAO site head over to http://www.yokkao.com/news and keep your eyes peeled. If you fancy some YOKKAO gear to show off in the gym the page is http://www.yokkao.com/shop they also have an Instagram, Twitter and Facebook that you will be able to follow too!
Want to keep a track of what I am up to? Head over to my Twitter http://www.twitter.com/muaythaibloguk or my Facebook http://www.facebook.com/muaythaibloguk I do regularly post on these and keep them up to date with what is going on. What you waiting for?
Peace and love! Keep training and being the best you can be!
